The Last Bookstore in The World is a portrait of literature lover's unusual journey with the purpose to metaphorically save “the last quality book” from multinational entertainment termites. The group travels in desert on a minibus loaded with collection of “last quality books.” The goal of this journey is to find a place on the desert where they will build “the last bookstore in the world.” The place is psychologically and geographically suitable for its function because there paper printed books are safe from the industrial termites, who eat their living space in the cities. The film is characterised as one of a kind, an amazing adventure to save the reading culture and quality literature, starring Hannu-Pekka Björkman among others. Film has received an invitation to various destinations all over the world i.a. Lisboa and Istanbul, where literature congresses are held based on the themes of the film. In Spain the film is screened in about ten different locations, the Madrid premiere and the literature discussion are held in the legendary Circulo de Bellas Artes (Festival Eñe, 8th of November)
There's a discussion about the future of quality literature in Kino after the screening. Discussing Rax Rinnekangas, Miki Liukkonen, Mikko Aarne and Saara Turunen. Look for more information here.
